Changes to next year’s Common Application were announced this morning.

The good news is there won’t be many. That means if you’re looking for 2012 Common Application topics, you don’t have to wait  — they’re going to be the same as last year.

One change did catch my eye: “Counselors will be able to send custom email messages to specific colleges on behalf of individual students.”

Guidance counselors will now be able to update specific colleges through the Common App, making it easier on the counselors, and ultimately better for the students.

The Common App is becoming less “common.” I like that.
